Snack Ideas for Lunchboxes

Fruits and Veggies

Fruits and vegetables will always be my favorites to serve as snacks. Pack the veggies with hummus or ranch dressing and instantly take it up a notch.

Obvious choices are:

  • Apples
  • blueberries
  • strawberries
  • cherries
  • grapes
  • carrots
  • cherry tomatoes, and
  • cucumbers.

Popcorn

There was a time not long ago that we happily ate prepackaged microwavable popcorn. That was until I heard about the dangers of consuming the stuff.

I have since started popping my own corn kernels and topping it off with some melted butter and Himalayan sea salt. My kids have not complained once. You can also grab a healthy brand like Lesser Evil online or at most grocery stores.

String Cheese

My kids loved this brand growing up.

Yogurt

If your kids love store-bought flavored yogurt kits with the granola on the side, how about making your own? Simply get plain Greek yogurt and sweeten with honey or maple syrup. Place in a partitioned lunch box and add some homemade granola! Et voilà, a healthier, refined sugar-free yogurt snack.

Lunchbox Supplies

As much as I have tried getting my family on board with bento lunch boxes, they would much rather prefer taking a sack lunch. But if your kids like a proper lunch box, this is one I’ve tried and like.

Sandwich Bags

I try to stay away from plastic, and these paper sandwich bags have been great for so many years.

Water Bottles

Both my kids have tried plastic, glass, and stainless steel bottles, and their current favorite is the Owala FreeSip.

You can find my full supply list here.
