Ingredient Notes

Citrus: I used both oranges and lemons, but you can use either one. And if you want to avoid citrus, I have a turmeric paste recipe you can make instead, featuring key ingredients like ginger, turmeric, and black pepper.
Ginger: I use the organic variety, so there is no fear of pesticide residue and no need to peel it.
Turmeric: You can use the root or the powder.
How To Make Frozen Immunity Bombs

Step 1: Peel the oranges and, optionally, the lemon. Then, blend all the ingredients until fully incorporated.

Step 2: At this stage, you can strain the mixture, or, if you’re lazy like me, freeze it with the pulp and strain when ready to drink.

Step 3: Next, pour the mixture into an ice cube tray and freeze for up to 3 hours or until frozen.

Step 4: Once ready to use, add the cube to a strainer in a mug, and pour boiling water over it. The cube will melt, and you can strain away the fiber. The immunity tea is ready to drink!
Pro Tips
- You can also use a cheesecloth or nut milk bag to squeeze every last drop of juice if you filter out the pulp when making the immunity bombs. The leftover pulp can then be used in smoothies, cake, or cookie batters for an added nutrition boost.
- Feel free to use any orange. Just make sure they are medium-sized, about the size of a tennis ball, to ensure the proper proportions.
- I used turmeric powder, but you can use the fresh root.
- These are perfect for meal prep, so once they are frozen, transfer them to a zip-top bag and store them in the freezer for easy access.
- Note that if you opt not to strain these before freezing, there will be about 12 cubes.
Immunity Bomb FAQs
Because these immunity bombs contain ingredients like turmeric and ginger, which synergistically reduce inflammation, the root cause of chronic disease, they also contain vitamin C, which helps fight infection. But by no means are these a magic bullet. Use it as a means to make your immune system resilient rather than a magic pill.
These immunity bombs can last up to 6 months. Let them solidify in the ice cube tray, then empty the tray into a zip-top bag. Pull one out as needed!
