“Finally made these today and SO glad I did! So easy and delicious, and personally, I find a quick shot in the morning a much easier habit to stick to than teas. Also added a few pinches of Kaala namak to mine for an extra kick. Yum!”– Sumera
Key Ingredients

Ginger – Ginger contains the powerful compound Gingerol, known for its anti-inflammatory benefits and its ability to fight infections.
Turmeric – Turmeric contains the compound Curcumin, known for its anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and anticancer properties.
Coconut water: Coconut water has naturally occurring electrolytes and has been shown to help fight mild illness, but you can skip it for a more intense ginger-turmeric flavor.
Black pepper: Studies show that the absorption of Curcumin, the compound found in turmeric, is greatly enhanced when combined with Piperine, the compound found in black pepper (by 2000%!).
Variations
- If you prefer to reduce your fruit juice consumption, decrease or omit the orange juice and add more lemon juice.
- Make it more potent by increasing the amount of ginger and omitting the coconut water altogether.
- Instead of black pepper, add cayenne. Cayenne contains capsaicin, which has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. Just one 45-gram chili pepper contains 72% of the daily value of vitamin C.
How To Make Homemade Immunity Shots

- Step 1: Peel and quarter the citrus, then blend with coconut water, ginger root or turmeric root or powder, and black pepper. I used the powder because I had some fresh, hand-milled variety.

2. Step 2: Once the mixture is ready, strain it over a clean bowl to remove the fiber.

3. Step 3: Store it in a mason jar, as I have in the video below, or in individual shot bottles.
Immunity Shot FAQs
A combination of a nutrient-rich diet, exercise, sleep, and vitamins like C and D can help boost the immune system.
The best drinks to boost the immune system are ginger tea, green tea, citrus drinks like these immunity shots, and hydrating, antioxidant-rich smoothies like my Pineapple Cucumber Smoothie. One can also use turmeric-rich Haldi Doodh and Lemon Ginger Honey Syrup.
These can last in the fridge up to 5 days when stored in an airtight container. For more extended storage, freeze them in ice cube trays or make my Immunity Bombs.

Notes
- Turmeric tends to stain the equipment and counter tops so make sure to wash and wipe all surfaces immediately after!
- If you want to make these shots more intense, omit the coconut water. You may need to use a juicer instead of a blender.
